Aquatic Plants

Many species of aquatic plants are informally grouped together as "algae", a term that can refer to species as diverse as single-celled cyanobacteria to multicellular Filamentous Green Algae.

Some other larger plants include Duckweed, that floats on the water surface in still water areas.

Other plants such as Coontail or Watercress root themselves in the stream bed.

Occasionally you might find Water Lillies in a quiet, deep backwater along the creek.

There are other plants, although not technically aquatic, will be found along waterlogged shorelines and gravel beds. They include Water Milfoil and Water Primrose.
